ppills.to Check a price
Prescription prices, compared

The same pill can cost three prices in one street.

pills.to puts the cash price, the discount-card price and your insurance price side by side — for people and for pets — so you know what to expect before you hand over a card at the counter.

How a price check works

Three steps, no paperwork, and no obligation to fill anywhere.

1

Tell us the medication

The name, the strength and the quantity on the label — the three things that decide the price. Add your ZIP code so we look at pharmacies you can actually reach.

2

We compare the ways to pay

A cash price, a discount-card price and — if you have a plan — an insurance price. They are not the same thing, and the cheapest one is often not the one you were offered.

3

You choose where to fill

Take the best number to any pharmacy in the comparison, or ask your prescriber to send the script somewhere cheaper. We do not sell the medication and we do not push you to a store.

Three prices, one prescription

Most people only ever see one of these. That is the whole problem.

What you payWho sets itWhen it helps
Cash / list price The pharmacy's own retail price, before any card or plan is applied. Rarely the best deal on a generic, but it is what you are charged if you mention nothing.
Discount-card price A pharmacy benefit card that negotiates a lower rate per pharmacy and per drug. No insurance, a high deductible, or a copay that is higher than the cash price.
Insurance copay Your plan's formulary tier and the pharmacy's contract rate. Brand drugs and anything your plan covers well — but check the cash price too.
Mail order / 90-day fill The plan or the pharmacy's refill program, priced per tablet. Monthly maintenance medication you will be taking for a year or more.

Prices change with supply, contracts and the pharmacy's own specials — which is why a comparison is worth repeating at every refill, not once a year.

Built for the people who pay the most

  • No insurance at all. You are charged the retail price unless you ask otherwise.
  • A high deductible. Until it is met, a covered drug can cost more than cash.
  • A copay that feels wrong. It happens more often than anyone admits.
  • Monthly maintenance meds. Small savings per fill become real money over a year.
  • Pet prescriptions. Veterinary prices are rarely compared, and they vary wildly.

What we will not do

pills.to is a price comparison service — not a pharmacy, not a prescriber, and not a substitute for medical advice.

  • We never ask you to change a medication or a dose. That is a conversation with your prescriber.
  • We do not dispense, ship or store medication.
  • We do not sell your details to pharmacies. The form goes to one inbox.
  • We do not promise a price — we show you where to find the real one.

Questions people ask first

Is pills.to a pharmacy?

No. We do not dispense medication. We compare what you would pay for the same prescription at different pharmacies and through different payment routes, then you fill the script wherever you like.

Do I need insurance to use it?

No. If you have no insurance, the cash and discount-card prices are the numbers that matter and they still apply. If you do have a plan, we compare its copay against those too — sometimes the plan is not the cheapest.

Will using a discount card affect my insurance?

A discount card is not insurance and does not report to your plan, so the amount you pay with a card generally does not count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. If you are close to meeting a deductible, ask the pharmacy which route counts.

Can you look up prices for my pet's medication?

Yes, that is one of the reasons people come here. Many pet medications are the same molecules as human generics and can be filled at a regular pharmacy with a veterinary prescription — the price difference is often large. Read the pet medication guide for how it works.

What do you need from me to check a price?

The medication name, the strength, the quantity, and the state or ZIP code where you fill. No prescription number, no insurance member ID, and no payment details — we do not need them and we do not accept them.

Why does the price change between refills?

Pharmacy contracts, drug supply and the manufacturer's pricing all move. A generic that was cheap last spring can rise by autumn, and the store with the best price for one drug is rarely the best for all of them.

Check a prescription price

Tell us what is on the label and where you fill. We will come back to you with the routes worth asking about. Do not include prescription numbers, insurance member IDs or any medical history.

We reply by email from this one inbox. No account needed, and no medical advice — dosing questions go to your prescriber or pharmacist.
